The Police in Rukungiri district have made a distressing discovery when they found a lifeless body of a 9-year-old juvenile in a banana plantation located in Nyarushanje Sub County, Rukungiri district.

The deceased has been identified as Daniel Tuzarirwe, a middle-class pupil at Nyabushenyi Lower Primary School, a resident of Nyakahanga “A” village, Nyabushenyi parish, Nyarushanje Sub County, Rukungiri district.

The body was stumbled upon by Ndyahika Kashemerwa, an area councilor, who immediately informed the grandparents of the deceased.

It’s alleged that the deceased left home on Monday 12th June 2023 morning, went to school together with other two siblings, Kamugisha Deusdedit and Nsiime Todius. Later in the evening at around 5Pm coming back from school, at Kashanda village, the deceased told his siblings to move as he was to follow them.

The two reached home and waited for the deceased in vain. Their grandparents started tracing but could not find him the whole night until the next morning when they were alerted of an unknown body in a banana plantation.

ASP Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi region police, confirmed the incident acknowledging that Police at Rubabo station were alerted to the situation by a concerned individual Consilanta Korugyendo, a 50-year-old resident.

He said that the crime scene was thoroughly examined, documented, and the body was subsequently transported to the mortuary at Rwakabengo Health Centre III for postmortem examination.
