Village chairpersons in Budaka district have declined to distribute government face masks until the government provides them with the right number.
On Monday, the health ministry delivered 20734 face masks for distribution to the residents across 20 sub counties in the district.
However the village chairpersons declined to receive the masks saying that they are less compared to the number of people that need masks.
They say that they needed about 30537 masks that could help beneficiaries in protecting themselves from COVID-19.
Some of the chairpersons say that this lack of face masks is what is leading to further spread of COVID-19.
