Chelsea football club confirmed on Monday morning that it had fired Frank Lampard, one of the club’s greatest players, from his post as head coach after 18 months in the role.

Chelsea’s board said in a statement that an immediate change was the only option “to give the club time to improve performances and results this season.”

Lampard will be replaced by a Former Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel.

Frank is considered one of the greatest players to have ever played at Stamford Bridge, he left the Blues in 2014 having won three English Premier League titles during 13 years at the club
