The minister of primary health care in the ministry of health, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu has said that the government has no plans of closing schools even if they face rising cases of positive cases of COVID-19 in several schools.

The ministry of health currently reports an average of 1900 cases per week from over 127 districts.

At least four different learning institutions have also had clusters of COVID-19 transmissions being reported in the past few days.

However while addressing the media today at the Uganda media center, Kaduchu says that the ministry of health doesn’t recommend closure of schools as this will only heighten further community transmissions and further create disruptions learner’s academic progress.

She says that the ministry of health has engaged with the ministry of education on several fronts and they have come up with a number of recommendations that schools can undertake to keep the students under control.
