There are concerns of the death toll of COVID-19 in South Africa may be significantly higher than what the official results show.

A record of 572 deaths of the virus have been recorded in the past 24 hours alone but researchers from South Africa’s medical council say that figures for natural deaths are even higher than the usual suggesting thousands of the COVID-19 deaths may be going unreported.

Official figures show that 6000 people have died of the virus but the study for the past weeks show that 17000 more deaths than usual of this time the year are recorded and of the such people who have died at home and other cases may have somehow gone unreported.
