Entebbe expressway is now announced open and safe for public use by police. This has come moments after the bomb squad for a given time closed it to clear an object suspected to be a bomb.

Kauma Nsereko the Kampala Metropolitan Police Traffic Commander earlier said that the Bomb Squad was carrying out investigations and asked road users to use the old Entebbe Road.

He said “This is to inform all road users who are using Entebbe Expressway that there’s an investigation going on along the Expressway. You are therefore requested to use the Old Entebbe Road to the City and to Entebbe for the time being.”

After some given hours, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said that officers stopped the traffic flow in order to evacuate the object safely.

He continued that the object was removed and the Expressway was cleared thereafter for public use.

“We would also like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation during the brief traffic disruption caused by the evacuation of the abandoned object. Our officers worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of everyone involved,” Owoyesigyire said and called upon all members of the public to report any suspicious objects in their respective areas.

The Entebbe express highway is becoming a spot of robbery and accidents since the road has no street lights.
