Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng announced on Tuesday that the first batch of COVID-19 is arriving on Friday 5 March 2021.

The batch includes 864,000 doses and vaccination is scheduled to start on 10th March 2021.

This is part of the 3,552,000 doses of the vaccine that was allocated to Uganda by the COVAX facility.

Aceng revealed that the vaccination will be done in a phased manner

Health workers and elderly people are to receive the jab first followed by security personnel including the UPDF, Police, and prison

All those who are eligible for vaccination will be required to produce a national Identification card for Ugandans while non-Ugandans will provide a passport.
