The electoral commission in Serere has just announced the late Patrick Okabe’s son Emmanuel Omoding as the newly elected Member of Parliament for Serere County.
Independent Emmanuel Omoding has won the Serere County by-election with a total number of valid votes cast 15,638 followed by Phillip Oucor of NRM who got over 13,206 votes. Alice Alaso of ANT comes in third place with a total number of votes of 3,335 followed by Onuguruco Martin of Independent with 2,523 votes and Eratu Emmanuel of FDC with 1,252 votes.
The total number of valid votes cast was 35,954 while the total number of numbers rejected votes were 812 and the spoilt number of votes was 170 on the 36,766 ballots.

The newly elected member of parliament Emmanuel Omoding thanked God and the people of Serere for the support they have entrusted to him.
“I want to give God all the Glory and honor. I want to thank my wife, three sons, and everybody who has stood with me. It has been a good journey full of trust, patience, and a good race,” said Omoding.
He added on and said he will be continuing his father’s legacy, and the projects he had started, and he will be looking forward to meeting president Museveni.
“Am willing to work with everybody and am ready for this,” said Omoding.
