Residents in Budaka District,Bugolya village were left in a shock on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, after a man identified as Wilberforce Mbulamaye, whose family members believed had died been “buried” on June 3, 2020, reappeared three years later.

Mbulamaye, a 54-year-old father of five who is believed to have left the village mysteriously on January 3rd 2015 lived in Bugolya village in Nabugalo Parish in Kameruka Sub-county after being released from a Budaka prison for assaulting a neighbor.

He had then moved to the Gomba District where he found casual employment on several farms. However, he didn’t relocate with his family.

His brother, Balinawa Mubale said that his spirit could possess his children, claiming that he died and was suffering.

They recovered a dead body wrapped in a blanket, returned home and buried it after performing the necessary rituals. He was ‘buried’ on June 3, 2020.

However, on Tuesday, the family was shocked to see Mbulamaye walk into their home alive.

Mbulamaye, his family and the locals drank and danced the entire night in celebration of his life.

North Bukedi Regional Police spokesperson Samuel Semewo said the family buried a different person as he had facilitated the exhumation and repatriation of the body.
