The territorial Police at Kira Division are investigating a case of vandalism and theft that took place in Kitikifumba Village, Kira Municipality.

According to ASP Luke Owesigyire the deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan, it is alleged that unknown thugs had broken into the home of Franklin Mwongyera and vandalized his motor vehicle, stealing the number plates.

“We would like to commend the swift response of our officers who introduced the K9 unit to track the stolen number plates,” said ASP Owesigyire.

He added on and said that the K9 unit was able to track for about 1.4 km to a garden of sweet potatoes, where both the front and rear number plates of the vehicle with registration number UBE 021J were recovered.

“The recovered number plates have since been handed back to the owner,” said Owesigyire.

“Investigations are currently ongoing to identify the suspects behind this act of vandalism and theft and we urge the public to provide any information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits,” Owesigyire added.

He went ahead and thanked the Kira K9 unit for their outstanding performance in recovering the stolen number plates.

“The K9 unit is a vital tool in our fight against crime and we will continue to utilize their expertise in our operations,” said Luke.

He went ahead and encouraged the public to take necessary precautions to safeguard their property against theft and vandalism.

“Report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police station. We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all members of the public”.
