NUP President Kyagulanyi Campaigns For Alaso Alice In The Serere County Parliamentary By-Elections

As Serere County Member of Parliament by-election campaigns come to their climax, Alaso Alice the flag bearer of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT)’s camp was boosted on Monday by the presence of National Unity Party (NUP) Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

This campaign attracted hundreds of voters especially the youth to witness Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine campaign for Also on her Last rally emphasizing unity as the Opposition.

“We believe that united we stand and divided we fall. We know that we are under dictatorship and we the leaders can speak but it’s you the people to act, we cannot tell you to unite before we unite,” said Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

“So, we are doing this today to ask you to unite as the people of Serere that have suffered for so long. That is why we decided to choose the best among us, and we believe the best is Alice Alaso,” said Kyagulanyi.

He added on and said that in the first by-elections, Museveni has been cheating in them because he wants the people to give up on the elections, but they all know this is the only way to achieve what they want.

This happens after Alaso had collided with the Electoral Commission and the police blaming them for intimidating her supporters and campaign team through their heavy deployment of security personnel, and government machinery rises concern among the netizen of Serere County.

“We have information which is very reliable that the NRM is planning to replicate Jjinja and Arua in Serere. So, they are planning to take out the top team leadership of my campaign team expecting that they will be disarming me from protecting the votes that people are giving me,” said Alaso.

She added on and said that they are appealing to the Electoral Commission who is the mediator in this process to come out and defend their rights if they still have the authority.

However, in contact with the Serere District Registrar, Sylvia Cheptegei said that she had not received any complaint from candidates or their agents.

“Now ballot stuffing comes when they are voting so if people are already having allegations of ballot stuffing, yet the elections are to take place on 23rd February 2023. Where are the ballots that they are stuffing?” said Sylvia Cheptegei.

She went on and said that the elections will be taking place on the 23rd on Thursday and that she as the tallying officer promises the best elections since they are conducted in the holy month of fasting for all Christians.
