The boy’s dormitories at Kyamate Secondary School in the Ntungamo district where ignited using petrol, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, Samson Kasasira has clarified.
As stated by Kasasira, investigators have since recovered an empty jerrycan with residues of petrol behind the school fence following the Sunday night fire.
The fire demolished Nyerere and Mandela dormitories claiming the life of Bonus Ankwatireire, a senior one from Isingiro district, and left three others including Isaiah Ajjuna, Amanya Lisbon and Marvin Nuwenyesiga, nursing injuries.
The two dormitories were a home to 146 students. The Kyamate Secondary School head teacher, Emmanuel Arinaitwe says they have allowed the deployment of the Uganda Police Force and the UPDF at the school to find those behind the fire.
He adds on that they have also allowed parents to visit their children and bring them necessities since they lost all their property in the fire.
