South Sudanese Central Bank introduced a bank note of 1000 South Sudanese pounds the largest denomination in the country amidst high inflation.

The local currency continues to depreciate against the foreign currencies in the country but the bank of South Sudanese governor Deir Tong says the bank note will partially restore the dollar value very soon.

He also says the bank note Will not increase inflation but will reduce on the cost of printing lower denominations.

Tong also says the introduction of new bank note is in line with international best practices to ensure that demand for bank notes is aligned with economic activities.
