The State assembly in Kaduna in the North Western Nigeria has approved false surgical castration as a punishment for those convicted of rape.
State commissioner for Women’s affair, social development, Afsat Mbaba describe the approval by the state assembly as a welcome and said it will serve as deterrent for rapist.
The state governor Nasiya Ahmed will now need to sign the bill for it to become a low in the state.
In June, Nigeria Governors declared a state of emergency over rape and violence on women in the country.
They decide to dis-declare this after a number of success prosecutions of rape suspects remained low and yet cases were on the increase
