Human Rights Watch (HRW) in Tanzania says authorities have stopped recruiting opposition parties and non-government organisations ahead of next month’s elections.
Human Rights Watch has also criticized the new media restrictions which prevents media outlets from covering politically sensitive including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since June at least 17 opposition party members and critics of the government have been according to HRW.
Its also said that its no a coincidence that the Tanzania government has tightened its restriction toward the October elections.
Its says that some organisations that have monitored the previous poll have been banned from doing so by by the National Electoral Commission.
