Three people have been arrested for impersonating as UPDF soldiers and soliciting bribe from youth who want to join the forces.

They were arrested on Tuesday by military operatives attached to Jinja based Gaddafi Barracks. The suspects whose identities have been withheld to avoid Jeopardizing investigations are accused of mascarading as UPDF officers at the rank of major claiming that they have been assigned by force’s top leadership to mobilize unemployed youth to recruit them as LDU’s personnel.

Joel Ndeka a resident of Thuwamba village, says that the suspects tasked him to pay them 50,000shs to get his son recruited into the army.

Ayub the Dondo LC3 Chairperson say that they have received several complaints from different people and they have since handed over the matter to the top security organs for investigations.

Mean while Captain Edwin Mawanda, the Jinja Zone UPDF Spokesperson says tha the force is yet to put charges against the suspects who are currently detained at Gaddafi pending investigations.
