Two Men Survive Mob Justice In Namisindwa District Over Homosexuality

Two men in Namisindwa district identified as Rogers Wabuya and Derrick Wamwangu have survived the wrath of angry residents for allegedly engaging in the act of homosexuality.

Both residents of Bukiabi sub-county, they were first rounded up by residents from a lodge in Bumbo town council on Saturday.

An eyewitness identified as Fred Timbwa, says that residents stormed the guest house following a tip-off from one of the workers. Mathew Nabiswa, a paternal uncle to Wamwangu, says that the residents stormed the guest house armed with machetes, axes, stones, bricks, and sticks to lynch the duo but were saved by the Bumbo town council LC III chairperson, Joseph Kamuli.

One of the culprits Wamwangu, was taken to the Magale health centre III for treatment because he had sustained serious ruptures in his anus while Wabuya is locked up at Bumbo police post.

However, it should be remembered that homosexuality cases are on rise now days and the president of the Republic of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has always condemned publicaly.

John Musila, the Bubulo East constituency MP condemned the act, saying it lends credence to the proposed anti-gay bill before the parliament as the parliament granted leave to the Bugiri Municipality MP, Asuman Basalirwa to introduce a private member’s bill titled the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, 2023.

The bill seeks to prohibit any form of sexual relations between persons of the same sex and prohibit the promotion or recognition of such relations.
