Vipers SC will face Wakiso Giants in the round of sixteen of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. The fixture is a repeat of the quarter-final of the previous edition where the Vipers eliminated the Wakiso giants on a 3-1 aggregate, which sent the Vipers to the finals.
Wakiso Giants will be looking to revenge against the Venoms that eliminated them from the tournament last season. Both Vipers and Wakiso Giants needed penalties to qualify for the round of 16.
In other fixtures released on Tuesday, KCCA will play Big League team Mbarara City, Police will take on Ndejje University, Adjumani will face battle Bunyaruguru, Bright Stars against Kiyinda Boys, Express against Paidha Black Angels, and Calvary against Kitara.
There was however a pending fixture between BUL and SC Villa which the FUFA’s Disciplinary Panel ordered to be replayed following a petition by SC Villa who complained about their disallowed goal in the match that BUL FC had won 1-0 on February 17, 2023.
The winner between SC Villa and BUL FC will play Onduparaka FC. Aisha Nalule, the FUFA Competitions Director said the game will be played before the round of sixteen fixtures kickoff.
Nalule further warned teams not to use unlicensed players which she says has affected many teams from the lower division’s teams. She was referring to Kisugu United which was disqualified from the tournament for using an unqualified player during their victory against Paidha Black Angels.
“Kisugu was disqualified for using unlicensed players giving Paidh a chance to go through the of 16 meaning that kisugu is not going to be part of this and consequently they are losing the chance of the 3million,” Nalule said.
She went ahead and urged teams to always use licensed players.
